Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Callers tell me they receive a recorded message such as "Thank you...just a moment", "Extension xxxx doesn't answer. Please enter another extension", or "Please wait during the silence." What's wrong with my mailboxes?

A: If callers receive one of the above messages, your mailbox greeting probably is not set up. If you believe everything is set up correctly, call STS at x4425 for further assistance. Before calling, make sure you did not turn your greeting off by mistake. It's easy to turn your greetings back on. Simply log into your voice mailbox, and at the ready prompt type 4 and then 1 to turn your greeting on.

Q: I listened to all of my new messages and pressed 3 to delete them, but when I dial into my mailbox the messages are still there. Why?

A: If you do not exit the voice mail system by pressing 9 and then 9 again, voicemail will keep the messages marked as new. Always exit the voice mail system by pressing 9 9.
